In July 2022, a month before the tragic passing of Jaimie Branch, the brilliant trumpeter and composer was in Chicago's International Anthem (IARC) studios, putting the finishing touches on an album. This album, comprised of her own compositions, had been crafted and recorded with her ensemble, Fly or Die, during a residency in Omaha, Nebraska. With just some final mixing, titles, and artwork left to complete, her family, band, and IARC collaborators united to honour her vision. The goal was to do what Jaimie would have done. This poignant final album with her quartet, "Fly or Die Fly or Die Fly or Die ((World War)),” is now presented with stunning artwork, a testament to her enduring legacy. If you've been in the shop recently you may have heard this stunning record as it has been in heavy rotation.
